The famous Chalukov School lies upon the remains of an ancient church in the Old Tow of Plovdiv

The archaeologist Dr Ivo Topalilov’s team excavations in the Old Town uncovered remains of the Chalukov School as well as remains of a Holy Land convent on top of a late Middle Ages church, necropolis and another massive ancient building. The excavations take place at the Suborna St, right at the foot of the new art gallery.
