Born on October 22, 1903, in the village of Bresovo in the Plovdiv District. Zlatyu Boyadzhiev graduated from the Ts.Todorov’s class of the Sofia Art Academy in 1932. He painted portraits and compositions depicting village life as well as landscapes predominantly from Plovdiv and its vicinity. His paintings are kept in the National Art Gallery fund, in other Bulgarian and European galleries, as well as in private collections.

The painter from the Bresovo village – that’s how he is referred to all around Bulgaria. And his works are best-described bi Ivan Kirov: “A gigantic, according to our scale, work that is a fusion of the Peter Broegel‘s insight and the Van Gogh’s cosmic implication with the sheep scent floating over the Bresovo hill slopes, interwoven with the homespun of the Karakachan nomad mountain shepherds and the fire-dancers – the centuries long experience of the European art mixed into our local traditions. That is what Zlatyu Boyadzhiev did for that wretched Bulgarian people, which keeps on uniting itself with some civilization but always sticks to its own.”
