Dr. Georgi Vulkovich - born in Edirne, 1833. Doctor, political figure and a diplomat. Member of Bulgarian Literary Society (later the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences). He comes from the eminent Revival-period family clan of the Chalukov (Dr. Stoyan Chomakov comes from the same family clan).

He graduates Medical Sciences in Paris. While living there, he wrote to our eminent revolutionary, Georgi S. Rakovski, offering him his services as a surgeon and a doctor to his League of freedom fighters. After the Liberation of Bulgaria (1878), Dr. Vulkovich got back to Bulgaria.

M.P. of the constituent National Assembly (1879). Director of Agriculture, Trade and Public Buildings (1879-81) in East Roumelia. Minister in the government of Principality of Bulgaria (1881) before the Unification of Bulgaria. Ambassador to Constantinople.

Dr. Vulkovich was murdered while on a diplomatic mission in the Ottoman Turkish Empire ( he was Ambassador to Constantinople), by the opponents of Stefan Stambolov, whose close friend and political ally Vulkovich was. He was killed by a assassin on February 12, 1892, in the Kabristan Street in Constantinople. Dr. Vulkovich was buried in Plovdiv.
