This is a traditional Bulgarian feast associated with the end of summer and the beginning of the autumn agricultural season. The Orthodox Church has assigned this day for one of its most important and solemn holidays - the Holy Cross Day.

This day is a name day of everyone named Krustina and Krustyo.

According to the popular calendar from, on Holy Cross Day the old Bulgarians get ready for vintage time. Small and big baskets are weaven for the grape gatherers. Therefore, in some parts of the country, the Holy Cross Day is also called the Grape-Harvest Day.
