The "Lyre of Orpheus" Project news

The Lyre of Orpheus that was being restored as part of the project of Plovdiv Municipality is now ready for display. Newly composed music will be played on this lyre. The instrument is 40 cm tall and was made of sycamore tree and tortoise shell, since the initial concept of using material as close as possible to the original one - horns, has failed as 45 cm horns could not be easily found around in present days.

The lyre will be presented to the audience on September 12, 2009, on stage of the Ancient Theater in the Old Town, where the final concert of the ancient instrument restoration project will take place.
