"Bulgaria's Most Noble Citizens for 2004" Award

55 of our fellow countrymen have been included in the list for the "Bulgaria's Most Noble Citizens for 2004" Award, which is handed for the second year on the initiative of the 24 Hours newspaper. The readers of the newspaper have had a month to vote for the most noble actions of people, among whom are ordinary people proposed for the votes by their relatives and closest ones, as well as a large number of popular sportsmen, musicians, scientists, actors, etc. Among those 55 there are also several "Plovdivers", as we call them...:


Nomination #9:  The kids Boyana and Albert Popovi (aged 8 and 12), who have been saving from their week allowances to buy a computer but eventually donated that much dreamt of computer to the girl with the breaking bones, Isabella.

Nomination #32: BG National Team to the Mathematics Olympics, among which there are students from the Plovdiv High School of Maths.

Nomination #43: Stanka Tsaneva, Director of the Plovdiv Professional Food Technologies High School. The team of the teachers at the school have donated money for the heart surgery operation of another teacher, Nencho Tabakov. The teachers of her school have also raised funds for the treatment of a colleague of theirs suffering from breast cancer, as well as to support poor students.

Nomination #49: The BG Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Stefka Kostadinova, high jump world champion, five-time champion of five different world champions - an achievement never surpassed by another athlete in the whole world....

Nomination #54: The gymnast Jordan Jovchev, for his excellent presentation at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, and for his excellent sports achievements.
