The journalist Hristo Hristov (the Dnevnik daily's staff writer) premiered Wednesday his book "Kill a Wanderer" at the Balabanov House Museum in the Old Town of Plovdiv. The book is unmasking the truth about the assassination of dissident writer Georgi Markov, and also names the murderer as Francesco Gullino, a Dane of Italian origin.Georgi Markov was murdered in London in 1978 when poison was secretly injected into his leg through the tip of an umbrella. No one has been charged with the killing, and in 2000 Bulgaria officially closed the case."The attack against Georgi Markov was a triple killing," renowned political analyst Ivan Krustev said on Wednesday. "Firstly, it was the physical killing of Georgi Markov and secondly that was the killing of his reputation," Krustev said, referring to the fact tha Markov was labeled an associate of the communist secret service. "And thirdly, it was a killing of hope that truth can be learned."Hristov himself said that the publishing of the book was a symbolic return of Georgi Markov to Bulgaria, after he fled the country 36 years ago.
