Международен ден на ромите

Днес е Международният ден на ромите, чието официално честване започва у нас през 1991 година.

На Първия световен ромски конгрес, проведен в Лондон, Великобритания, през 1971 година е поставено началото на световното ромско движение за утвърждаване и развитие на ромската култура и идентичност. Участие в него взимат представители на ромите от всички континенти и на индийското правителство.

Делегатите обявяват датата 8-ми април за международен ден на ромите, който е включен в календара на ООН. На този ден ромите по света почитат паметта на своите събратя, загинали по време на Втората световна война. На конгреса през 1971 година са приети също и флагът и химнът на ромите.

Министерският съвет, в присъствието на премиера Борисов, ще отбележи днес официално Празника на ромите. Организатори на събитието са Националния съвет за сътрудничество по етническите и демографските въпроси към Министерския съвет с председател вицепремиера Цветан Цветанов.
