Today we celebrate  anniversary of the Nis Uprising, 1841, which started in the lands of the North-Western Bulgaria as a reaction against the despotism of the local authorities and their unwillingness to recognize the rights of the population there, as guaranteed by the Gulhane Hatt-i-sherif.
