800th anniversary of the anti-Bogomil Council

Feb.11, 1210, Tsar Boril of Bulgaria summoned an Anti-Bogomil Council in the capital Turnovo. Higher clergy and nobility attended it. The Council was presided by the Tsar who personally interrogated the bogomils that were brought to the council.

The event's goal was to publicly condemn the ideas and doctrines of the Bogomil heresy. The Bogomil leaders Peter of Kapadokia, Luka and Matey of Rodobol are overthrown by society, sentenced to corporal punishment and exiled. All their disciples were persecuted.

The decisions of the Bogomil Council were collected in the so called "Synodicon of Tsar Boril".
