The World Day of Water has been appointed by a decision of the UN Ecology and Development Conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on June 1992. In the year 2000 the UN General Assembly agreed upon on of the millennium’s main goals to preserve water and declared the period 2005-2015 as the “Decade of water”. Today’s International Day of Water is within “Water for Life 2005-2015” World Program. The official celebrations today are going to take place in Mexico, during the 4th World Water Forum.
