Bulgaria marks the International children’s day

Various events throughout the country mark June 1 as Children’s Day. Thematic celebrations, free theatre shows, entertainment events, games and quizzes are launched in most places. Road police reminds that on June 1 vehicles should keep their lights on. In Sofia a celebration will take place at the National Palace of Culture with a ceremony for giving out awards to the talents from the various workshops from the National Palace of Children. Among the events is also a pet show, dog’s training performance, games, cartoons, drawing and painting events, clay modelling of kids’ favourite cartoon characters and children fashion show, to mention but a few. Representatives of the Council of Children with the State Agency for Child Protection met with Parliamentary Chairperson Tsetska Tsacheva and MPs. The young people demanded support on the part of Mps along the mechanism of children’s participation in school management, for more concrete and categorical definitions in the Penalty Code in view of crimes related to violence against children and also asked for stricter control on commercials and Internet space.
