The new school year was opened in all Bulgarian schools on September 15. There are nearly 756 thousand pupils in Bulgaria, of whom nearly 64 thousand first graders. The number of the Bulgarian teachers amounts to over 127 thousand. The schools, including the private ones, are 2,614. Free textbooks worth EUR 10 million were provided for the state schools for students from 1st to 7th grade. All day education is provided for all students from 1st to 4th grade. Some Bulgarian Universities also gave the start of their academic year on September 15.
