143 години от Априлското въстание

Отбелязваме 143 години от Априлското въстание. Априлското въстание избухва на 20 април стар стил (1 май нов стил) 1876 г. в Копривщица и е организирано от Българския революционен централен комитет.































Въстанието избухва предсрочно на 20 април заради предателство. По план е трябвало да започне на 1 май 1876 г. Подготовката на въстанието е осуетена от османските власти. От 95 въстанали села и градчета във въстанието участват едва около 10 000 мъже, въоръжени с огнестрелно оръжие. Прибързаното обявяване на въстанието, подготвеността на османските власти за евентуален бунт след Старозагорския опит за въстание и след Босненско-Херцеговинското въстание, крайно недостатъчното снабдяване с оръжия и не на последно място неопитността на апостолите, тяхната несъгласуваност и пълната липса на международна заинтересованост обясняват бързият му и кървав край.
