Stoyan Zagorchinov was among the first writer to widely popularize the genre of historical novel in Bulgaria. His most significant novel "The Last Day - The God's Day" was one of the first social-historical epic novels in BG literature. He also wrote plays, essays, portrait pieces, articles and memoirs.

 

Stoyan Zagorchinov was born in Plovdiv on March 3rd, 1889. He studied History at the Sofia University, then he continued his studies of History and Philosophy in Geneva, Switzerland, and he finally graduated from the Sofia University with the Major of History and French Language.

He taught French at the Naval Force School in Varna (1920-25). He died on January 31st, 1969, in Sofia.
