DR IVAN KESYAKOV was a public figure, leader of the Democratic party, Mayor of Plovdiv (1908-1912 and again 1921-22).  Born in 1871 in the town of Koprivshtitsa.

He graduated Medicine from the Medical University of Krakow, Poland. For years in a row, Dr Kesyakov was the director of National Health Chief Direction. As a Plovdiv Mayor he made huge steps to imrove the sanitary condition of the city. Dr Kesyakov died in 1965.
