George Ganchev (whose real name was Georgi Petroushev) was born on August 29, 1939, in Plovdiv. In the early 1960s he emigrated from Bulgaria. He graduated from the British Fencing Academy (he was twice Fencing World Champion, 1970 and 1974), and the Hollywood Theatrical Institute in California, USA.

In the period 1973-88, he acted as a director, playwright, movie and play producer in UK and USA. He claims to be the author of 7 Hollywood screen plays, of novels and poetry books. He played as actor as well.

He published an autobiography called George. As he claims, he adores horses, music and poetry.
