ПОКРОВ НА ПРЕСВЕТА БОГОРОДИЦА

На 1 октомври 910 г. сарацините (араби) нахлули в пределите на Византийската империя и я подложили на тежко изпитание. Император по това време бил Лъв Мъдри (886-911). Свети Андрей Юродиви с ученика си Епифаний се намирал по това време на всенощно бдение в цариградската църква Влахерна, където се пазела като скъпоценна реликва една от одеждите на света Богородица. Било събота срещу неделя. Църквата била пълна с народ.  В 10 часа през нощта по време на всенощното бдение св. Андрей насочил погледа си нагоре и видял св. Богородица във въздуха. Тя била обкръжена от пророци, апостоли и ангели. Със своя омофор покривала богомолния народ и се молела за него на своя божествен Син.

Развълнуван от гледката, св. Андрей запитал тихо ученика си дали вижда как света Богородица се моли. Епифаний отговорил, че  вижда и се ужасява...Това видение на двамата cподвижници станало известно на богомолците в храма, а след това и на целия град. По молитвите и покровителството на света Богородица арабите били прогонени от страната. А Църквата учредила празник наречен "Покров Богородичен".
