September 22nd, 1908, Bulgarian Knjaz Ferdinand declared the Independence of Bulgaria in the former capital of Bulgaria. That act practically put an end to the submissive position of Bulgaria towards the ottoman Empire. Bulgraia becomes an independent state ruled by the crowned Tsar Ferdinand.
The Ottoman Empire as well as the Great Powers officially accept the Independence of Bulgaria. That day is declared an official holiday by the National Assembly on September 10th, 1998.
