4.5 M Tourists to Visit Bulgaria in 2005

Bulgaria expects some 4.5 million foreign tourists in 2005, reads the Tourism Development Strategy, Deputy Minister of Economy Dimitar Hadjinikolov informed in Varna. US$2 million revenues to the fisc are expected from tourism. It will be afforded by the realization of new projects along the Black Sea coast and building of two new ski-resorts. The projects for Tsigov Chark and Koprivshtitsa are now being developed. The estimated revenues in 2003 are $1.5 billion as compared with $1.334 billion in 2002. The Germans top the standing in terms of visits so far. They will number 600,000 in 2003. Russian tourists increase as well. Poland is in Top 15 - 48,000 Poles visited Bulgaria in 2002. Of all tourists, 70-75 percent come from the EU zone, including the 10 new EU members, the Deputy Minister said further.
