Georgi Bozhilov - Slona (the nickname means Elephant) was born in Plovdiv. He graduated from the Art Academy in Sofia, Major Monumental Decorative Art, in Prof.Georgi Bogdanovs class.
The name of Georgi Bozhilov has been connected to the so called Plovdiv fivesome, uniting such eminent names as Yoan Leviev, Hristo Stefanov, Dimiter Kirov, Encho Pironkov. Although deeply connected to his native Plovdiv, he has always remained cosmopolitan in style.
Although popular largely by his paintings, Plovdiv features a number of monumental decorative samples done by the hand of Georgi Bozhilov: the mural of the Ivan Vazov National Library, the mural of the Central Post Office building, the sgrafito of the Old Town Art Gallery, as well as a number of blind-wall murals on the territory of Plovdiv.
He died in a car accident in May 2001.
