Bulgaria?s participation in St. Petersburg?s jubilee

The Bulgarian Federation of Friendship with the People of Russia will set up a National Committee for St.Petersburg?s 300th Anniversary Celebration. The Committee will be set up on a basis of the acting Committee for preparation for Bulgaria?s 125th anniversary of release from the Turkish invaders by Russian troops, the latter was widely celebrated in Bulgaria in 2002.

During the past week under the initiative of the Bulgarian Federation of Friendship with the People of Russia and other CIS countries a meeting of the chairman of the Committee-300 Natalia Batozhok with the chairman of this federation Z. Zakharieyv took place. The guest (Z. Zakhariyev) was got acquainted with the program of the city?s preparation to the jubilee, the calendars of jubilee year and of the decade of jubilee celebrations, May 23 ? June 1, 2003, as well as with proposals of foreign countries on participation in the jubilee?s program and the program of exhibitions devoted to St. Petersburg?s 300th anniversary.

A program of holding of Bulgaria?s week in St. Petersburg was discussed.

Bulgarian President Georgi Purvanov Wednesday had a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Purvanov's Press Secretariat told BTA.

Purvanov extended greetings on the occasion of the tricentennial of St Petersburg. Bilateral relations were discussed. The two presidents expressed satisfaction with the invigoration of political dialogue between the two countries since they met in March 2003.
